Thivanka is an Environmental Engineer with a Civil Engineering background, and a current PhD student at the University of Auckland, focusing on the role of WSUD assets in urban flood resilience and climate change.
He has been working the stormwater management and modelling space since 2017, focusing primarily on pollutant buildup and washoff modelling, urban flood risk and the design of stormwater/wastewater assets. Thivanka’s experience allowed him to be proficient in various modelling and geoprocessing software, as well as the relevant guidelines within the field.
His enthusiasm towards the preservation of the natural environment and its resources is what drove him to pursue his education and career in environmental engineering.
In his free time, Thivanka enjoys walks on the beach, playing video games, and stargazing.
